A collaborative exploration of Poland’s complex relationship with the Church.

This publication was created in collaboration with my friend Zofia Paszkiet as part of a study project. I developed the illustrations, while she wrote the texts, and we worked together on the concept and overall direction.

The project stems from a shared frustration felt by many young Poles — the tension between personal freedom and the continuing influence of the Church. Although we left the religion years ago, its presence still shapes our country and culture, and we wanted to address that reality with honesty and nuance.

Our aim was not to criticise individual believers. We both come from Poland, where many people find meaning in Catholicism, and we respect that. Instead, this work questions the power structures and contradictions within the Church–State relationship, offering a thoughtful reflection on faith, identity, and societal change
